Paid Internship in the United States
The FBI Honors Internship Program 2026 is a highly competitive and paid internship opportunity for undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral students. This full-time, 10-week summer program offers selected students the chance to gain firsthand experience working alongside FBI professionals and contributing to the Bureau’s national security mission.
Interns may be assigned to the FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C., or to one of the 55 field offices nationwide. Applicants can indicate up to three preferred locations in their application. The internship will take place from June to August 2026.

Compensation
The internship is fully paid under the General Schedule (GS) federal pay scale. Salary depends on education level:
- GS-5: Interns with a bachelor’s degree who are currently enrolled in a full-time graduate program
- GS-4: All other full-time students, including undergraduate students and dual-enrollment students
The salary range for the 2026 summer program is estimated to be between $30,795 and $44,786 per year, prorated for the internship duration.

The FBI is seeking students from a wide variety of academic disciplines. Fields of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Accounting
- Foreign Languages
- Information Technology
- Criminal Justice
- Journalism
- Law
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the program, applicants must:
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Be enrolled full-time at a U.S.-accredited college or university (undergraduate, graduate, or post-doctoral level)
- Not graduate before the program begins, unless continuing education in the semester immediately following
- Have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
