Fully Funded METI AI and Tech Talent Internship in Japan

Applications are now open for the METI AI and Tech Talent Internship in Japan 2025. This fully funded international internship allows students and recent graduates to work with Japanese companies in artificial intelligence, information technology, and technology.

The program is sponsored and implemented by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and aims to foster global IT talent and promote cross-cultural collaboration between Japan and other countries.

Program Overview

Location: Japan (at various Japanese companies)
Duration: 1.5 months
Dates: October 31 to December 15, 2025
Funding: Fully funded
Deadline to Apply: June 26, 2025
Interns per Company: 1 to 5

About the Program

This internship offers valuable experience in areas such as:

AI and digital transformation
IT and engineering roles
New business development using AI
Web design and production for international audiences
Marketing and market research focused on the intern’s home country
Service and product development for global markets

Participants will receive comprehensive support throughout the program, and prior Japanese knowledge is not required.

The internship includes:

Round-trip airfare
Daily living allowance of 3,000 yen
Free accommodation
Internship insurance
Cross-cultural communication training
No application fee

Who Can Apply

To be eligible for the METI AI and Tech Talent Internship, applicants must:

Be a citizen of a country listed on the DAC List of ODA Recipients
Currently reside outside Japan
Be a current university student (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or a recent graduate (within the last three years)
Have good communication skills in English
Have limited Japanese language skills (below JLPT N5 level)
Be available to participate in all internship and training activities
Meet any additional criteria required by the host company
