Fully Funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Taiwan
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) is now accepting applications for the MOFA Taiwan Fellowship 2026. This is one of the most extensive international fellowship programs the Taiwanese government offers, supporting global scholars interested in conducting research in Taiwan.
Since its launch, the fellowship has supported over 1,500 scholars from 93 countries. It offers the opportunity to undertake research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan for 3 to 12 months.

Funding and Benefits
The MOFA Taiwan Fellowship provides the following financial support:

Round-trip economy class airfare to and from Taiwan (direct route)

Monthly stipend:
-
NT$60,000 for Professors, Associate Professors, Research Fellows, and Associate Research Fellows

NT$50,000 for Assistant Professors, Assistant Research Fellows, and Doctoral Candidates

Accident insurance and medical coverage for accidental injuries
Eligibility Requirements
The fellowship is open to applicants of all nationalities. Eligible applicants include:

Professors (full, associate, and assistant levels)

Research Fellows (including associate and assistant levels)
-
Postdoctoral researchers
-
Doctoral candidates (including current PhD students)
All applicants must propose research related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, the Asia-Pacific region, or Sinology.
Required Application Materials
Applicants must submit the following documents:

Completed application form (submitted online)

Research proposal (up to three pages in standard academic format)

Curriculum vitae, including a list of publications

Two letters of recommendation
Alternatively, one recommendation letter and one letter of consent from the applicant’s institution administrator
Application Process

Complete and submit the online application form through the official MOFA website.

Print the completed form and mail it along with all required documents to your country’s nearest Taiwan Embassy or Representative Office.
